What Are Invisalign® Aligners?

The Invisalign® aligners are created for each person using impressions, x-rays, and 3D imaging to get the exact specifications for their teeth and gums. This information is then sent to the dental laboratory where the aligners are designed.

How Do the Aligners Work?

Normally, the dentist will start by designing a treatment plan and requesting a set of aligners for the patient. The exact time frame for treatment and the number of aligners used will depend on the severity of the person’s orthodontic problems.

The aligners will be worn throughout the whole process and should be removed solely to brush and floss teeth, change out the set, or when eating certain foods.

Usually, the aligner set is exchanged for a new one every two weeks and must be worn for at least 20 to 22 hours a day to be effective and to provide the best possible results. The aligners are designed to be comfortable and to avoid irritating the cheeks and gums as traditional braces can.

Every six to eight weeks after the patient starts wearing their aligners, they will need to come in for a checkup. During this appointment in Beverly Hills, we will check to make sure that their progress is going as expected. They will also be able to pick up their next batch of aligners at this time.
